Application of Amino Energy and Mind from Agro.Bio in Chernihiv region
Experience in Novgorod-Seversky district
An experiment with humic fertilizers was conducted in 2019 in the Chernihiv region (Novgorod-Seversky district). The goal is to determine the possibility of using humic fertilizers to increase the yield of corn for silage on podzolized soils of the Chernihiv region.
The soil has lowland peatlands with a peat decomposition rate of 30–40% and an aqueous extract pH of 5.7. Since 2019, the farm has been receiving ammonia water, which has made it possible to use leonardite to prepare humic fertilizers. These fertilizers, applied in doses 5–10 times smaller than manure or peat-manure composts, provide a comparable increase in yield. Small doses and good water solubility of humic fertilizers facilitate the mechanization of their application, which is of great importance for the economy.
Preparation of fertilizers
Humic fertilizers were prepared as follows:
- Amino Energy : 2 liters per 1 hectare per 100 liters of water (water temperature 20 degrees)
- Mind : 2 liters per 1 hectare per 100 liters of water (water temperature 20 degrees)
- The pH of the Mind aqueous extract is 7.5, which meets technical requirements.
Peat-manure compost was prepared in the fall of 2018: a mixture of 2/3 peat and 1/3 manure was watered with liquid manure (200–300 kg per 1 t). The organo-mineral mixture was prepared in the spring of 2019 by adding lime (up to 3% of the weight) and superphosphate (2 centners per 1 t of peat compost) to the peat compost.
Experimental conditions
The experiment was carried out in three replicates, the plot size was 73.5 m², the feeding area was 70×70 cm (150 nests per plot). Corn of variety No. 1 was used, 4 grains were sown per nest (economic suitability of seeds is 98%). The predecessor was oats for green fodder after winter wheat for grain.
Agricultural technology:
- Autumn plowing to a depth of 20 cm.
- In spring, harrow twice and cultivate three times: the first at 12 cm, the second at 10 cm, the third at 5–6 cm (seed placement depth).
- Fertilizers were applied in bulk during the third cultivation on the day of sowing, and in nests on June 6, simultaneously with sowing.
- The seedlings appeared on June 11, and were fully emerged on June 17.
- Care: two inter-row cultivations in two directions, manual weeding with loosening in the nests.
- Cleaning was carried out on September 8th.
Experience options
- Control (without fertilizers).
- 50 t/ha of peat-manure compost + 500 g of organo-mineral mixture per nest (recommended agricultural rules).
- 500 g of organo-mineral mixture in the nest.
- 50 t/ha of peat manure compost.
- 2l/ha Mind.
- Solution of Amino Energy in the nest (at the rate of 2 l/ha).
- Solution of the Mind preparation in the nest (at the rate of 1.5 l/ha).
- Solution of the Mind preparation in the nest (at the rate of 2 l/ha).
- NPK equivalent to 50 g of humophoska in a nest: 0.8 g of ammonium nitrate, 0.8 g of potassium salt, 0.7 g of superphosphate.

The results of the experiment are presented in Table 1.

Analysis of results
Humic fertilizers, especially Mind, have shown high efficiency for corn even in small doses. Local application of a solution of the Mind preparation (1.5–2 l/ha) provided a yield increase of 17.5–18.5%, which is comparable to traditional fertilizers in much larger doses. For example, Mind in a nest (2 l/ha) gave an increase of 69 c/ha, while 50 t/ha of peat-manure compost gave an increase of 90 c/ha.
The use of humic fertilizers improves the economics of growing corn and its quality. It is assumed that the application of 2 l/ha of Mind under cultivation during sowing will provide a yield increase comparable to 50 t/ha of peat-manure compost or 300–400 g of organo-mineral mixture per hole.
